The #WW1PaintOff aka ‘Draw the Living Memorial’ event will take place on Western Road, Crookes on Saturday 11th November from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Dan Llywelyn Hall has invited lots of folks to the beginning of the day, for an Armistice Day memorial service, including Councillors, ex-Servicemen, ex and current pupils of Westways School and other community members.

At 10:40am there’ll be a short, silent procession from either end of lower Western Road (between Springvale and School Roads), meeting at the plaque on the wall of Westways School, which commemorates the ex-pupils of the school who fell in WW1, and to whom the memorial trees are dedicated.

Dep Mayor Cllr Magid will lead a short memorial service, with a minute silence at 11:00am, a bugler playing ‘The Last Post’), wreath laying and then readings and poems (including by ex-pupils of Westways school).

Everyone is invited to come and join the memorial service and take part in the drawing event. There will be a children’s activities tent on the car park of the architects office on Springvale Rd.

Please note the lower end of Western Rd will be closed to traffic for the morning.
