Interesting to see this. Jack was my Uncle, he ran it up until 1956, I don’t know when from. My father Alan,his younger brother, took it over until it was demolished in 1966.
As we were only tenants of the brewery when it was compulsorily purchased we lost both our home and livelihood with only minimal compensation. In the ten years we lived there the shop was open until 10 at night every single day including Christmas day. About 80 hours a week in total.
