Activity Sheffield will be bringing Walk Boost to Crookes over the next 10 months. They will be working with the whole community to put on and deliver walks and activities aimed at increasing walking, reducing carbon footprint and promoting footfall in local shops. Watch out for further info or contact Todd Micklethwaite on 07792247103 to find out how you or your group can get involved.

Crookes Community Garden. Caroline and Paul who do a great job of keeping the plot of land on the corner of Northfield Rd and Cobden View Rd beautiful are looking for more people to join them on Monday evenings. 7 – 8pm. No tools needed. Just turn up.

Walkley Community Library Futures Group. A community group of local people have taken on the task of trying to ensure that Walkley Library stays open as a community library. They have already got Associate Library status for the library but are now looking to widen the membership of the group to ensure that local people have a say in what any future library might look like. Do get in touch with them if you could offer any support however small. Email the Walkley Community Library Futures Group at thewclfg@gmail.com

The City Council’s  Small Grants for Community Groups has just opened for applications. The deadline is 30th May. Visit https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/in-your-area/grants/smallgrants.html for further information.

Forthcoming Events

Thurs 15th May 7 – 9pm Hustings Event for the local elections. Crookes Social Club, Mulehouse Rd. (See separate post below for details).

Sat 17th May 2 – 5pm Westways Wildlife Garden Fete. Top Gate Mona Ave. Plant stall, cafe, children’s activities etc. Everyone welcome.

Thurs 22nd May 7am – 10pm Polling Day for European and Local Elections.

Sunday 1st June 12.30pm The Big Lunch. Wesley Hall are putting on the Eden Project’s Big Lunch. A chance for neighbours to meet, chat, share a meal and get to know each other. They would love some extra help with putting on the BBQ so do get in touch with Matt Irons at Wesley Hall on 267 9040 if you can offer some help.

Thanks to everyone who did some community asset mapping with us at St Thomas’s Love Crookes Fest yesterday. Watch This space! And thanks to St Tom’s for putting on such a great event. Well Done.
